The Academic and Professional Development Committee initiates and organizes activities that will improve the academic and professional development environment in the Engineering School at the University of Virginia. Our committee now has 8 members and holds biweekly committee meetings. Below are the major initiatives that are going on in the academic year of 08-09.

Book BuyBack Program
This program tries to enforce the book buyback and new rental program that the bookstore is offering this semester, so that we can alleviate some of the pressures students face when we buy textbooks at the beginning of the semester, and yet can rarely buy them back when the semester is over.

Undergraduate Research Agency Program
This program matches faculty interested in working with talented undergraduates with students looking for research opportunities.

Peer Advisor Program
This program consolidates the relationships between first-years and upperclassmen by assigning first-years peer advisors to help them transit from high school to college life.
