This committee serves to connect the engineering community to the greater University and Charlottesville communities through events such as food drives, educational sessions for the college/public, and Trick or Treat on the lawn. Last Spring, the service committee hosted the first every Pi-Miler - a 3.14 mile run to raise money for the UVa cancer center. Since the event was such a wild success, the committee plans on organizing and hosting the same event this spring. Additionally, the service committee is pursuing a elementary school outreach program in which engineering students help inspire the younger generation to get excited about math and science.
