Senior assistant captain Kevin Miller
netted a hat trick as UVa fell to North Carolina
State University on Friday night.
Miller played a strong game and was determined to put the puck in the
net. His determination resulted in the 1st hat trick of the year
for the Wahoos.
Adding 2 helpers were winger Doug Godfrin. Andrew Lehrman added
an assist on one of Miller's goals as well.
The game opened up with a moment of silence and a check presentation
for NCSU player Stephen Russell who died over the summer. The
Cavaliers donated to the Stephen Russell Foundation
"because we are a hockey family," coach Tony Fischer said.
Although the Hoo's played well at times, they could not keep State
off the score board. "It was not a 12-3 game," assistant coach Risto
Kerovouri said after the games. "It seemed to be a closer game than
the score shows," he added.
The Hoos travel to VT next Friday to face the Hookies at the Roanoke
Civic Center at 7:30 pm on Friday.
