Welcome to The Monroe Society!
Our office will be closed from Tuesday, November 24 until Sunday, November 29 for Thanksgiving Break. We will resume processing requests after this date. Thank you for your patience!
The Monroe Society is a student-founded, student-run organization at the University of Virginia. We serve to provide prospective students with an opportunity to experience the University on a more personal level by enabling them to stay overnight in first-year residence halls.
Few other colleges in the nation offer such an interactive experience for prospective students. Through our services, the Monroe Society allows prospective students to thoroughly understand and appreciate the intelligence, honor, and spirit found at the University of Virginia.
Prospective Students: please request to stay with our program by clicking on the "Request Stay" link and filling in your information! If you have questions about the hosting process, please call us during our office hours Sunday through Thursday, from 7-9 p.m.
UVA students: Become a host or member! If you are a first-year and would like to host prospective students, please click on the "Become a Host" link and submit your information. We will call you to set up visits and add you to our e-mail list for further events and communication. All students can become members (first-years and above) to work "behind the scenes" setting up overnight visits. Click on "Become a Member" and contact us!
Enjoy your stay and want to help us pass it on? We welcome contributions to help fund our office expenses. Donations can be made online through the U.Va. Fund. Many thanks to parents of prospective students for their generous donations. With their help, we hope to serve the University community better than before.
Although the Monroe Society has members who are University of Virginia students and may have University employees associated or engaged in its activities and affairs, the Monroe Society is not a part of or an agency of the University. It is a separate and independent organization which is responsible for and manages its own activities and affairs. The University does not direct, supervise, or control the organization and is not responsible for the organization's contracts, acts, or omissions.
