Sils Sing at Ben Folds Concert!
The Sil'hooettes performed on Monday March 30th at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA as the opening act for Ben Folds. Currently, Ben Folds is on tour promoting a new a cappella compilation CD which is due out on April 7th. While the Sil'hooettes will not be featured on his upcoming project, they were extremely honored to perform with him and his band this week! Thanks to all of our fans who came out to the show!
SILS ON NATIONAL RADIO
The newest album from the Virginia Sil'hooettes, Take it to the Bridge, will be featured on national radio beginning on April 5th! "Redemption Song" will debut on the radio starting on Sunday, April 5th on www.indie1031.com. The show can be accessed through this link. Showtime is 7-9 pm EST. The show will feature a caller question and answer session about the song and about the group. Indie 103.1 was picked as the best radio station in the country by Rolling Stones magazine.

Sils Featured on Shanghai Restoration Project CD
In celebration of Chinese New Year 2009, the electronic group Shanghai Restoration Project recently released Zodiac. Inspired by the Chinese Zodiac, the album features twelve different songs, each representing a different animal. The Sil'hooettes are featured on the first track of the album, vOX.

TSRP has been featured on radio stations such as NPR, KCRW, KEXP, and KQED and in promotional campaigns for Christian Dior, Dove, Microsoft, Rhapsody, TiVo, SanDisk, Hilton Hotels, and Coca-Cola. Most recently, a TSRP song was featured in the premiere of the final season of Showtime's L Word and during NBC and BBC broadcasts of the Beijing Olympics.

The Sil'hooette's newest cd, "Sauce" has been nominated for a total of 5 CARAs!
Female Collegiate Album, Female Collegiate Song for "Butterflies & Hurricanes," Female Collegiate Solo for Jenna Pastuszek on "Careful What You Wish For," Female Collegiate Arrangement for "Slow Me Down" by Sara Dougadir, and Scholastic Original for "Dance With Me" by Lexi Witman.
In sum, the Sils were nominated for every category for which they were eligible!
The annual Contemporary A cappella Recording Awards (CARA) are presented by CASA (the Contemporary a cappella society), a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and encouragement of contemporary a cappella music. The CARAs recognize the best recorded a cappella and aim to support this burgeoning culture of instrumentless enthusiasts. They are the only truly global a cappella recording awards. Every year since 1992 hundreds of albums are considered in this celebration of the best a cappella recorded around the planet. The CARAs award artists in many categories, scholastic and professional.
