Director: Sarah Moront, 4th Year,

Hello all!  My name is Sarah Moront and I’m a fourth year majoring in Anthropology and Foreign Affairs.  I’m so very excited to be this year’s Cinematheque Director and to plan amazing film-related events for the UVA and Charlottesville communities.  In addition to devoting my life to UPC, I’m also an employee with Newcomb Center and Services and an intern with the International Rescue Committee here in Charlottesville.  In my free time, I enjoy watching documentaries, planning exotic trips I’m too poor to take, and visiting beautiful New Jersey (to be clear, this is not a joke).  Please feel free to shoot me an email or track me down in Newcomb if you ever have any movie ideas or just want to chat about the wonder that is Zoolander!

The lively students who staff the Cinematheque committee of UPC work tirelessly to bring a diverse collection of films to Grounds. In addition to biweekly screenings in Newcomb Theater, we also host other film-related special events such as free advanced screenings and co-sponsored screenings with various organizations on grounds. Highlights from previous years include advanced screenings of PopStar and Pitch Perfect 2, and events such as Laugh on the Lawn and Happy Hoo-lidays.
