All throughout Latin America and Spain, people are characterized for their warmth, cheerfulness, and welcoming attitude towards others. That same spirit is the one that defines our student-run organization LSU. Made for and by all those who consider themselves Latinos of origin, blood, or interest, LSU seeks to increase UVA’s awareness of the Latino/Hispanic culture.
We aim to aid current Latino students in embracing their own heritage as well as to promote their participation in helping unify our community. Through activities such as social gatherings, cultural events and fundraisers, our organization wishes to embrace all those members of the University who belong to the Latin community or wish to taste the flavor of this wonderful “familia”.

Promote and increase Latino / Hispanic awareness in UVA through the planning of cultural, political, academic and social events that portrait the different aspects of Latin American culture.
- Promote the integration of the Latin community in UVA, strong relationships and constant communication among the different Latin organizations on-grounds.
- Foster the active participation of our members in both Latin and non-Latin organizations in order to increase the impact of the Latin community in UVA.
- Represent the joint interests of the student Latino / Hispanic community in UVA.
- Promote the development and growth of Latino / Hispanic students and their incorporation to the University.
- Serve as a resource for the Latin students as well as the UVA community in general.
- Work together with other minority groups in order to increase awareness in the UVA population.
