The Virginia Atheists and Agnostics Mission Statement

Our primary mission is to eliminate the stigma of Atheism at the University of Virginia, in order to promote an atmosphere throughout UVA where Atheists feel comfortable discovering and expressing our beliefs.

We aim to achieve our mission through the pursuit of the following activities:

1. Educating the University community about Atheist beliefs and the myths about Atheism.
2. Promoting the discussion of religious and non-religious beliefs by Atheists and non-Atheists in order to gain an understanding and tolerance for each other.
3. Developing a community of Atheists to serve as a comfort zone for Atheists to share their beliefs and feelings.

Our secondary goals include providing education about alternatives to religious lifestyles and viewpoints. We encourage the exploration of positive, secular belief systems. Additionally, we support a secular attitude in the public sphere.
