Bellydance Superstars Volume 2. This is a compilation album of songs used by the Bellydance Superstars on their tour - songs vary from drum solos to modern pop. |
"Sabla Tolo: Journeys into Pure Egyptian Percussion" by Hossam Ramzy. Traditional Egyptian percussion - this album is entirely drumming. |
"Garh Tani" by Shereen. Alex sometimes uses Shereen in her classes (that "la la la" song everybody loves is on this album). This is not traditional bellydance music, it is modern Arabic pop - and a lot of fun to dance to! |
"A Tribal Metamorphosis" by Pentaphobe. Rachel Brice and The Indigo often dance to Pentaphobe. This is definitely not traditional dance music; it is more gothic/industrial with some bellydance beats and instruments. Even though many of us enjoy Pentaphobe, it can be an acquired taste so don't get this album unless you already know you like this type of music! |
Any album by Solace. "Rhythm of the Dance" is pretty traditional drumming, while "Vadalna" features techno/electronica remixes of Solace songs (sounds strange, but it works). You can download Solace albums for only $5 at Magnatune. |
"Intergalactic Bellydance" by Galactic Caravan. A little bit techno and alternative dance music, with some traditional beats and sounds. A lot of fun! |
"Bellydance Overdrive" by Turbo Tabla. Turbo Tabla is a fusion of traditional Arabic music with modern Electronica and Techno. |
"Jordan" by Raquy and the Cavemen. Bascially, any music by this group is fantastic. "Progressive Middle Eastern Music - HEAVY on the Drumming." BONUS: They perform in Charlottesville every few months or so. |
