BRMRG Officer Descriptions
as of 2/27/97
PIO

This year the PIO a 10K? run in December. I helped to design a letter for
soliciting contributions to BRMRG ( by the way did we ever send those out? I
know we were supposed to get back together to stuff envelopes but I never
heard about it again).
Ideally the PIO will publicize BRMRG events (i.e. open houses, fund
raisers...) and help organize the Open house in the fall semester for
incoming students. The PIO also usually gets PSAs to the radio stations.
If BRMRG decides it wishes to pursue fundraising the PIO will be heavily
involved in that and should also be involved in soliciting material
contributions from area businesses.
That's all I can think of right at this minute. If I think of anything else
I'll let you know.

The main thing the finance officer does is pay bills. Oooh,
exciting! But nevertheless important. Some of the bills you will be
paying include 3 different phone bills, pager bills, equipment bills,
and mileage bills. Also, the finance officer puts together orders
for stuff like nametags, hats, shirts, and that kind of thing.
Towards the middle of the year, the finance officer (along with
other people) puts together a budget to submit to student council for
the following year.
This year, I've been paying bills, ordering things, and along
with lots of Darren's help, we've put together a budget.
The job of finance officer is perhaps not glamorous, but you
do become popular when someone needs money. You don't need to be any
kind of accounting or math whiz to do a good job...all of the records
are kept on Quicken. However, it is important that you keep up with
things and not collect a huge pile of junk in your box. Also, be
sure to watch out for whoever is the commo officer, they are known to
lose donation checks behind the radio boxes.
Ops
Justin Green
Ops: Basically making sure that the group is ready to respond
effectively with all necessary equipment 24/7/365. That means
looking into new equipment, evaluation old equipment and
replacing when necessary. It also means cleaning up the locker
when everyone messes it up as well as keeping it is some
modicum of organization.
Equipment
Jason Powell

Maintain constant operational readiness of all equipment in the locker
except for maps, ops kits, radios, and associated electrical equipment.
Keep track of the condition and location of this equipment. Repair, restock
and replace equipment as appropriate.
(If you want a more specific description, I have a list about a page long
that will be in the continuity folder)
Things I've done this year:
standardized evac pack contents
tested GPS unit
purchased new helmets
made anchor line
ordered new equipment (waiting for delivery)
purchased & implemented rope washer
other regular duties
