Minister Xie feng's Visit to UVa

On January 29, 2009, Mr. Xie Feng, Minister and Deputy Chief of
Mission of the Chinese Embassy in the United States, along with Dr. YOU
Shaozhong, Minister Counsellor for Education Affairs, and Mr. Zhang
Jingan, Secretary of Education Office of the Embassy,came to visit UVa
and had a lunch with representatives of Chinese faculties and students
from CSSS. About 25 people attended this lunch. Minister Xie Feng
addressed to the attendants before the lunch, in which he brought the
warm Chinese New Year wishes from the Embassy and then expressed his
personal concerns to the life of UVa students and faculties. After the
adress, CSSS President Jie Li handed a gift, which is a photo frame of
UVa campus scenary, to the minister on behalf of CSSS. During the
lunch, Minister had a passionate talk with the attendents and answered
several questions regarding the current status of the Embassy's work,
as well as Sino-US relations, etc.
After the lunch, Mr. Xie Feng had a meeting with UVa President John T. Casteen and other officers. And then they left UVa and went back to the embassy at DC.
