About Choreographing

UDC needs student choreographers to teach classes. We encourage anyone who thinks they might want to try choreographing to stay after the interest meeting to get information about choreographing. It's a good idea to start thinking about a dance before the interest meeting, because the auditions are soon after. Choreographing is time consuming, and at times stressfull, but ultimately worthwhile.

Most dances are 2-5 minutes long and have 5-25 people. In the past, our choreographers have covered many different types of dance, including ballet, lyrical, jazz, modern, character jazz, hip-hop, and tap. New genres are always welcome!

If you audition and your dance is selected for the show, you will be given a day, time, and location to hold class. Then you have about 8 weeks to teach the dance and pick out costumes. Classes meet once a week for an hour. You may meet with exec to schedule extra practices. If you ever need any assistance, contact the choreography co-chairs.

Costumes

Jacyln Gerard has put together an excellent gallery of the costumes in the UDC inventory at

Choreographers may use these costumes for FREE as long as they request them from the choreography co-chairs by the costume deadline.

If you want to purchase other costumes, you may request to be reimbursed by UDC if the choreography co-chairs think the club will be able to use the costumes in the future.
