GSASC has two sets of priorities this year. The first set involves allocation of student fees. We plan to continue supporting grad student conferences and workshops, as we have in the past. We also want to organize more and better social events this year. Other priorities include beginning a new speaker series, and the organization of a Graduate Research Exhibition in the spring.

The other set of priorities involve lobbying the administration for improved support of graduate students. We hope the administration will work with us to eliminate the summer fee that Student Health plans to impose on graduate students next year. We hope to increase the number of dissertation year fellowships offered by the faculty. We would like to see UVA provide subsidized day care for graduate students' children. And we will continue to respond to graduate student issues as they arise.
