Religious Studies Conference
- no representative
- originally asked for $2-3000
- planning huge conference
- considered funding for $1000 w/ option to come back depending on how outside money works out
Writing Center,
Sigrid Anderson Cordell,
Dissertation Workshops
- requesting $505
- much lower numbers last time b/c of $15 charge
- two year long program of workshops consisting in 6-8 people working on
dissertations
- open to all departments
2nd Black Women's leadership conference
- last year very successful; attendance ~100
- Budget: Catering $1500; Publicity $600; Correspondence $200; Supplies
$200; Honoraria $500; Materials $500 = total $3500
- Speaker Pynke Gohaner-Lyles
- Theme: Black Women: Our Hope for Tomorrow
- Funding from the Provost of International Affairs
- trying to make multicultural links with other women of color and reach out
to larger university community
- expecting maybe 200 participants

- Robert unable to be here
- You can fund BWL conf as much as we'd like; $1500 cap for rel. studies;
$500 for the WC would be fine - if we spent all that plus the money for the
research fair and the party, we'd be done for the year
- surplus is $5-6000

Honor Report
- via email re: informed retraction failed at last honor meeting; one of
honor committee reps got it put on the StudCo agenda so it will go to
referendum
- Kelly: we should take a position on this before the issue goes to vote.
StudCo Report
- Erika Bryant - Chemistry
- new format for meetings; 7:15 Tues leaders from the community come to
speak about things that are going on in StudCo meeting room on 3rd floor
- summer scholarship $1000 applications available outside StudCo office
- further attempts for us to get an office
President's Report
Fellowships: meeting w/Osheim
- fellowship apps due
- increase in grad dissertation fellowships
- Dean Osheim will be going back to being a professor - the New Dean of
Research and Graduate Studies is Peter Brunjes in Psychology
Old Business
- SHIC: can't say much at this point.
- Athletic department: nothing to report
- Party: Thurs. 9-1; coupon system; no entrance fee, so if you don't
drink, no fee. $2.50 Coupons, $3 after; Darden $500; Bio-sci maybe $300
- Dial-up petition: petitions are coming in; faculty displeased with
discontinuation of service; deans are not happy
- Research fair: Need volunteers; posters; need judges 2-5 (or less) on
March 7th; 23 grad students registered so far
Increase webmaster fee $75/ semester?
New Business
- meeting with Dean Ayers on Weds re: budget
