Diwali is celebrated in Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism, and Jainism, and is an official holiday in India. Diwali is also known as the Festival of Lights. In Hinduism, Diwali marks Rama's return after he defeated Ravana, an evil King who kidnapped Rama's wife, Sita(for more information, refer to Ramayana). Diwali is celebrated to signify the victory of good over the evil within an individual.
