IFC Presents Fourth Annual Crimson War Blood Drive
October 3, 2007
The Crimson War is an annual blood drive sponsored by the Inter-Fraternity Council against the University of Maryland. Last fall, the University and Charlottesville communities, in conjunction with Virginia Blood Services, collected a record breaking 824 units of blood in our victory. The event stemmed local blood shortages in the Commonwealth, and helped over 2,400 people. In the wake of new critical circumstances, the blood supply in Virginia is once again diminished, and your help is needed.
This year’s Crimson War begins on Monday, October 15th and has the potential to save thousands of lives. Each day, Westminster Presbyterian Church (190 Rugby Road) will act as the primary donation site. There will also be “Bloodmobiles” outside of the Chemistry Building and Clark Hall accepting donations. Hundreds of man-hours have already been put into coordinating this event—all we need now are donors.
All participants will receive a free 2007 Crimson War T-Shirt and free raising caines Monday and Tuesday at Westminster church. Additionally, 85% participation from any fraternity or sorority on Grounds will count towards an FOA requirement. This year, signs will be posted at the three donation sites tracking the participation of each house in all four greek councils with the ultimate winners.
This is our chance to come together and send the powerful message of compassion, caring, and service not only to the University and Charlottesville communities but also to the Commonwealth.
This year’s Crimson War Blood Drive will be held from Monday, October 15th through Friday, October 19th at:
- Westminster Presbyterian Church (190 Rugby Road)
- Chemistry Building
- Clark Hall
