What's Up Impact! My name is Charlene Brown and I’m a third year Religious Studies major from Woodbridge, VA. I’m the Impact President at UVA, and am excited about what God is doing around grounds and in the community. Over spring break, a team went down to New Orleans with Impact to minister and help rebuild the city. In addition, this past summer we had many individuals who participated in the Impact Summer Music Project and the South Africa Project, as well as other missionary endeavors like Urban Promise. Our goal is to be relentless with evangelism, intentional about discipleship, and above all, to bear a firm foundation of love.
This school year we have remodeled the structure of Impact in order to serve the campus and community better. Our focus has now shifted to small groups. Similar to bible studies, it helps create a relational community, and at the same time equips our younger leaders in evangelism, discipleship, and leadership. The Small Group model is now what The Impact Movement is using on a National Level, and we are following in line with this vision. Our field coaches, Jackie Bland and Rasool Berry, have been helping us during this transition- please pray for us that we will continue to be led by the Spirit as we step out in this new ministry model!
We now have over fifteen small group leaders for the 2006-2007 school year! We plan on having different campus and local pastors come in throughout the year to equip our small group leaders on ministering effectively. We crave your prayers as we desire to bring many people to the Lord and deepen their walks with Christ through this new approach to ministry!
Second Corinthians 5:14 says, “For Christ's love compels us.” So we come in great expectation that the Lord is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, and above all that we could possibly expect or ask for. Please keep UVA and Impact in your prayers as we seek to serve our community, this campus, and preach the gospel with boldness.
In Him,
Charlene Brown
