Informal Recruitment

College is a time for students to gain independence, meet new people, and find that comfortable niche of friends and support. Sorority life can help with these goals, as well as aid academic and social development. Joining a sorority can really help a big school become smaller and more intimate and ensures a lifetime of memories with your sisters.

Upperclass and transfer students have an opportunity to join a sorority this fall during Informal/Fall Recruitment. Informal Recruitment will take place from Friday, September 18, until Friday, October 2. Not all houses are allowed to or choose to participate. Participating houses will receive a list of women that are rushing and then can invite as many or as few women as they wish. There is no formal daily process, as there is during Formal Recruitment in the Spring. Houses are allowed to choose activities they feel best fit their chapters and can handle the recruitment process as formally or informally as they wish. There is no obligation by either the chapters or the women to offer/accept bids. Participating in Informal Recruitment, but not joining a chapter, does not preclude a woman from participating in Formal Recruitment in the Spring. Informal Recruitment is a continuation of the Continuous Open Bidding (COB) process, so no fee is required.
