Undergraduate Research
Undergraduate research experience greatly improves the attractiveness of an applicant to medical school admissions committees. It is most important for you to be interested in your research. Following are a few links to various UVa department websites regarding undergraduate research. This list is not exhaustive; if your area of interest is not included in these links, send us an email!
To get involved, identify labs that study a topic that interests you and contact the principle investigators expressing your interest.
Weekly Seminars
Interested in deepening your knowledge of science and healthcare? Consider attending weekly seminars hosted by the Departments of Biology and Chemistry (generally held on Fridays in Gilmer or Chemistry, respectively) or The Medical Center Hour (held on Wednesdays in Jordan Hall). These seminars and lectures are a great way to engage your interest in a variety of topics surrounding science and medicine that you are unlikely to encounter in your undergraduate courses.
Clinical Research: UVa Health System Clinical Trials
