2004-2005

Fall 2004

Sept. 18: UVA IM tournament
Congratulations to Mike S. and Adam for winning the tournament, and to Mike S. and Robert for sharing high scorer honors.

Oct. 23: Cavalier Classic IX, our annual fall high school tournament.
Congratulations to TJ A, who won the tournament with an undefeated record. Gonzaga took second place, with Gov B and A taking third and fourth, respectively. Here are the final results.

Oct. 30: ACF Fall, held at Rutgers-Newark. We did not attend.

Nov. 6: Princeton fall tournament. We did not attend.

Nov. 13: SNEWT IX, a tournament at Swarthmore for first and second year players.
Our juniorbird team (Steve Young, Mike W., Mike S., Vivek) went an undefeated 10-0 to win the tournament. This was the second consecutive year we have won the tournament without losing a single game. Here are the stats.

Spring 2005

Feb. 5: NAQT Mid-Atlantic Sectionals, held...there.
Our Div I team (Steve Ya., Steve Yo., Morgan, Sidarth) finished with a record of 10-6, 3rd behind VCU and Princeton, but apparently not good enough to receive an ICT bid (despite 4th and 5th receiving bids). Our two-man Div II team (Mike W., Mike S.) tied for 2nd place with a record of 9-5, only behind an undefeated Swarthmore team, also somehow not good enough for an ICT bid. Results can be found here.

Feb. 12: Cavalier Open II, our second annual spring high school tournament using NAQT questions.
Congratulations to Dupont Manual A, who defeated Governor's School A in the final. Blake and Richard Montgomery A were semifinalists. Prelim and playoff results can be found here and here.

Feb. 26: ACF Regionals, to be held at Rutgers-New Brunswick. We did not attend.

Mar. 26: Inaugural ATC Tournament, to be held at Princeton. Indefinitely postponed.

April 2: ACF Nationals, to be held at Northwestern in Evanston. We will be sending one team.
Our team (Mike W., Steve Ya., Steve Yo., Sidarth) ended up in the second playoff bracket and took third place among undergraduate teams behind VCU and Harvard. The team had a 2-4 record in prelims and 2-3 in the playoffs, missing the final playoff round to catch a flight.

April 8-9: NAQT ICT, to be held at Tulane University in New Orleans. We will be sending a team in both Div I and Div II.
Our Div I team (Jason H., Gwen, Steve Ya., Sidarth) lost a tiebreaker to end up in the third playoff bracket and finished 5-8 overall.
Our Div II team (Mike W., Mike S., Vivek) tied for 9th place overall with a record of 9-4. At the end of the tournament, Mike W. was fifth place individually in scoring with 48.5 ppg.

April 16: NAQT Virginia High School Championships
Congratulations to TJ A for repeating as champions, this time capturing the title undefeated.

April 23: J'ACCUSE!, a college tournament to be cohosted with VCU and held in Charlottesville.
Congratulations to Georgetown Law for winning the six-team tournament.
