NAQT Virginia HS State Championships

The Academic Competition Club at the University of Virginia is pleased to announce the NAQT All-Virginia High School Tournament, to be held for the fourth time in Charlottesville on SUNDAY April 22, 2007.

This tournament will use NAQT question set IS-67. We hope that this tournament will include public and private schools from across the commonwealth.

Each team is guaranteed at least six rounds of play, but most teams will play additional games. The teams that perform best qualify for PACE National Championships (Ann Arbor, MI) and the winner will receive a berth to the NAQT National Championship Tournament (Chicago, IL).  We are interested in offering a separate division for small schools again, the winner of which would also qualify for the NAQT HSNCT, for schools that have fewer than 750 students in grades 10-12.  Please indicate in your registration if your school is interested in participating.

Check-in for team coaches/representatives and buzzer systems will be in Wilson Hall 301. A free breakfast will be provided starting at 8:30, and opening ceremonies will take place at 9:15, all in Wilson Hall 402 (adjacent to Cabell Hall, on Jefferson Park Avenue). Competition will start soon after, with the preliminary rounds ending mid-afternoon. We will email you the schedule and other details as the tournament date approaches.

The registration deadline is April 18th, but schools will receive a $20 discount for registration by Wednesday, April 4. If you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail us at uva-quizbowl-tournament@virginia.edu.

Registration now open! Click here to register online.
