About the Sailing Association at the University of Virginia
The Sailing Association is a student run CIO Club Sport for UVA Students that caters to novices, pleasure sailors, and competitive racers alike.  We sail on the waters of scenic Lake Anna, launching from the wonderful facility of Lake Anna Yacht Club.  All are welcome to come out and enjoy a day on the water, learn how to sail, or improve their skills.

Lake Days
Lake Days take place Fridays and Saturdays each week.  Fridays will be structured practices for competitive racers while Saturdays cater to beginners and leisure sailors.  Plan on meeting at Hancock Circle between 1:45 and 2PM on Friday and 9:45 and 10AM on Saturday to carpool.  It does not matter if you are completely new to getting on the water or are a seasoned veteran, lake days are a great time for all.  As the weather gets colder and the days shorter, watch for club emails about early Friday departures to the lake.

Racing
Our racing program competes against other schools in Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA), both club and varsity programs.  Anyone is welcome to try their hand at racing once they have learned the basics of sailing and crewing.

Facilities
Our fleet currently consists of 6 FJs, 2 420s, 1 laser and a motorboat for coaching/safety. We are based out of Lake Anna Yacht Club and launch our boats from floating docks.  We have drysuits, wetsuits, and spraygear for cold weather sailing.
