SHPE is a nationwide organization whose primary function is to enhance and achieve the potential of Hispanics in engineering, math, and science.  Founded in 1974 in Los Angeles, CA, SHPE's primary objective was to form a national organization of professional engineers to serve as role models in the Hispanic community.  This objective is achieved by providing members with the resources to work towards and the opportunities for academic excellence, professional development, leadership, forming a network of support and community service.
