Every year at the University of Virginia, we work with the Asian
Student Union during APAHM (Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month)
to present a program called "VOICES". VOICES changes in style and
focus annually and brings a 'voice' to our history as well as current
issues affecting our community. Some projects in the past have included
geishas, movies, professional panels and minority entertainers.
2009
The fifth anniversary of the VOICES program was celebrating by Dancing Through Barriers: America's Best Dance Crew's Boogie Bots!
Boogie Bots shared the stage with local UVA dance groups Mahogany, X-Tasee, and CSA's Panda Fresh Crew. The Boggie Bots performed two sets and also took part in a question-answer panel. Afterwards, everyone was able to dancce with the 'Bots at our after party!

2008's project was a a professional panel dedicated to empowering
individuals who have 'broken the glass ceiling'.
Titled "Breaking
the Glass Ceiling: Asian/Asian Americans in the Workplace", VOICES
was a professional panel comprised of members from the Asian American
Chamber of Commerce, CAPAL, NAPAWF, and the Asian American Journalist
Association.
Panelists answered pre-determined questions and also answered questions on the spot brought up from the audience. facebook
