About Us - Our Mission
The members of Sigma Alpha Lambda aim to recognize and promote the values of Service, Achievement, and Leadership within the University and greater Charlottesville communities.
Sigma Alpha Lambda is a national leadership and honors organization with a network of local chapters established at educational institutions across the country. The University of Virginia chapter was founded by a group of 20 students and held its first meeting on April 28, 2006.
Chapter Highlights
Members participate in a variety of community service projects each semester. We have helped build a house with Habitat for Humanity, and we have teamed up with Destination Imagination, "a community-based, school-friendly program that builds participants' creativity, problem solving, and teamwork in enjoyable and meaningful ways." We are also currently developing a scholarhsip fund. In short, Sigma Alpha Lambda is a close-knit, growing network of scholars, friends, and mentors.
