Our Story:

Our team has 22 members from a diverse variety of backgrounds and studies at The University.

The team was established in 1991.  One day two young men showed up for water polo practice but could not find the pool in Memorial Gymnasium since it is hidden in the basement.  They jokingly started to toss the ball back and forth, and eventually more and more people joined them.  Soon they saw the badminton team coming for their club team practice.  This gave them an idea:

“Let’s kick the badminton team’s asses, and use their net for volleyball!”

And it was so.

Disclaimer:  The only part of the above story that is true is the fact that we use a ball and a net to play volleyball.  The Virginia Men's Club Volleyball team has nothing against badminton players, midgets, leprechauns, elves, or fairies (we realize that fairies covers badminton players twice, but it is more inclusive so we put it in there anyways).  Don't worry badminton kids, it's not you we dislike... it's those damn croquet kids that really get us riled.
