Virginia Women's Club Volleyball

The Virginia Women’s Club Volleyball Team is a competitive sports team which travels to compete with other teams from across the country.  Traditionally, we go to about 7 to 8 tournaments each year including nationals and host a tournament each semester at Memorial Gym. We currently have two teams, each a member of the Carolina Women's Collegiate Club Volleyball League.

In the past, the team has traveled to tournaments at James Madison, Virginia Tech, UNC, Penn State, and Georgetown. Next Season, we will be traveling to Salt Lake City for the Nirsa Nationals 2009 Tournament.  The team begins traveling to tournaments in early November and stops after nationals in mid-April.  We are looking forward to a fun and successful 2008-2009 season next year!

News:

We returned to Charlottesville late Sunday evening after competing in the NIRSA national tournament at Kansas City, MO. On Thursday, we were in a pool with USC, Nebraska, and Eastern Washington and ended up winning all our games to come in first place. On Friday, we won two games against Appalachian State and lost to Kansas and came out in second in our pool. We were able to stay in the Gold bracket in Division II for the playoffs that started Saturday. Our first game on Saturday was against Irvine. We eneded up winning the match in three games and went on to play Ohio University in the quarter finals. Ohio proved to be a very tough opponent and after an exciting match, we lost to Ohio, who went on to get second place overall. We are really happy with the way the season turned out this year and look forward to an even more successful 2009-2010 season!
