Previous Spring Break Mission TripsSpring Break, 2001 - Rio Grande Valley - Texas and MexicoSpring Break 2001 was an international trip exploring issues of immigration, trade, cross cultural ministry and the environment in the border region of South Texas and northern Mexico. We stayed in McAllen, Texas and worked in Texas and Mexico on a variety of activities ranging from construction to gleaning to helping in a clinic. This trip was amazing and very revealing to us all. Some pictures from beautiful sunny Texas and Mexico Spring Break, 2000 - St LouisSpring Break 2000 was a trip to the beautiful city of St. Louis, Missouri. We slept on the floor of Dr. Fry United Methodist Church by night and went to a variety of different places during the day. The St. Louis Food Bank, Harvest House, two day care centers, and a shelter for the mentally ill were just some the places where we volunteered our time. It was an incredible trip and the people we met there left a lasting impression on all of us. Some pictures from the trip. Spring Break, 1999 - PhiladelphiaIn 1999 we went to the great city of Philadelphia to work in the inner city. Everyday we split into groups of five and worked at a different location. The locations included a day shelter for the homeless, a food bank, two day care centers for low income families, a construction project and two soup kitchens. Needless to say, we had a great variety of opportunities that were eye-opening to us as students at the University of Virginia. Some pictures from the trip. Spring Break, 1998 - AntiguaThis year's mission trip was to the Caribbean island of Antigua. The week was spent renovating the Gilbert Center, a center which would be used later in the year by mission groups helping rebuild the nearby island of Montserrat. We also had the chance to meet some of the refugees from the volcano explosion. Other students worked with a Peace Corps volunteer in the building of a shed which would be used to store the farm's tractor. Some pictures from the trip.
